This Rental Agreement is entered into between Rieles 23 Rent a Car, S.R.L., hereinafter the Rental Company, and the individual signing below, hereinafter the Renter, for the rental of the vehicle described on the attached Vehicle Rental Form. The term "vehicle" includes the car itself along with any accessories, child seats, GPS units, or other equipment attached to it and listed on the Rental Form. By signing this Agreement or taking possession of the vehicle, the Renter accepts every term below.
- Vehicle condition and acceptance
The Renter selected and inspected the vehicle before departure. Any pre-existing damage, including scratches, dents, or interior stains, was documented and signed off on the Vehicle Inspection Sheet prior to departure. The Renter acknowledges the vehicle's actual features may vary slightly from the reserved vehicle's listed specifications, including engine output and performance. - Authorized drivers and age requirements
Every driver must be at least 21 years old and hold a valid, unexpired driver's license held for a minimum of one year. Drivers between 21 and 24 are subject to a young driver surcharge of $6 USD per day. International renters must present a valid passport, and any license not printed in Latin script requires an accompanying International Driving Permit. Only the Renter and any driver explicitly listed as an Authorized Additional Driver on this Agreement may operate the vehicle, at a fee of $6 USD per day plus applicable tax. Allowing an unlisted person to drive voids all insurance coverage and constitutes a material breach of this Agreement. - Rates, payment, and security deposit
Payment is due in full at the time of pickup unless the reservation was prepaid online, and the primary Renter's name must match the name on the card used for payment. A refundable security deposit is authorized on the Renter's card at pickup, $300 USD for economy and compact vehicles or $500 USD for SUVs and pickups, as a guarantee against incidental charges including fuel shortages, traffic violations, or minor damage found at return. The deposit is released following a successful post-rental inspection. Renters who pay in full online at the time of booking receive a 10% discount off the daily rate. - Insurance coverage
Basic liability coverage is included in the base rental rate and covers damage to third-party property and injury to third parties resulting from an accident, provided the Renter has not violated this Agreement or Dominican Republic law. This is the minimum coverage required by law. The Renter may add an optional Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) at checkout, which reduces the Renter's financial responsibility for collision damage down to a set deductible, disclosed at the time of booking. Neither coverage extends to interior damage such as tears, burns, deep stains, or heavy smoke odor, which is billed separately as a detailing or restoration charge. Insurance issued through credit card companies, banks, or other third parties is not accepted in place of Rieles 23 coverage. No coverage applies to breakdowns caused by incorrect fuel type, driving through flooding, or damage from natural events such as fallen branches or animal contact. - Prohibited uses
The vehicle may never be used: under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any impairing medication; to transport hazardous, flammable, or illegal substances; for ride-sharing, subleasing, or carrying passengers for hire; to tow or push another vehicle or trailer; off-road, on unpaved surfaces, or on closed roads; for racing, speed testing, or driver training; outside the geographical boundaries specified at checkout; or by anyone other than the Renter or an Authorized Additional Driver. Violating any of the above immediately terminates this Agreement, voids all insurance coverage, and makes the Renter fully liable for all resulting damages, recovery costs, and legal fees. - Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank and must be returned at the same fuel level. Vehicles returned with less fuel are charged for the missing amount at a premium per-gallon rate plus a standard refueling convenience fee. - Mileage
Every rental includes unlimited mileage, with no per-kilometer charge regardless of rental length. - Traffic violations, tolls, and fines
The Renter is solely responsible for all traffic fines, speeding tickets, parking violations, and tolls incurred during the rental period. If Rieles 23 receives and must process a fine or unpaid toll on the Renter's behalf, an administrative processing fee is charged to the payment method on file for each violation. - Accidents, breakdown, and roadside assistance
In the event of an accident, breakdown, mechanical failure, or theft, the Renter must contact Rieles 23 support immediately. For accidents, the Renter must obtain a police report and exchange insurance information with any third party involved, then file an internal Incident Report with Rieles 23 within 24 hours. Roadside assistance for issues such as flat tires, fuel failures, or lost keys is included at no charge within a 20 km radius of the rental location; assistance beyond that radius may carry an additional charge. The Renter may also access free roadside assistance through the Ministerio de Obras Públicas y Comunicaciones (MOPC), available on most Dominican Republic roads. The Renter may not authorize or perform any repair or modification to the vehicle without prior written authorization from Rieles 23 management. - Replacement vehicle and availability
If the reserved vehicle class is unavailable at pickup due to a Rieles 23 issue, a comparable vehicle is provided at no additional cost. If the vehicle breaks down for a reason not caused by the Renter, Rieles 23 provides a replacement free of charge; if no replacement is available, the Renter receives a refund for the remaining days of the rental period. - Loss of or damage to the vehicle
Unless covered by CDW or accepted third-party coverage, the Renter is liable for the full repair cost or actual cash value of the vehicle in the event of damage, theft, vandalism, or loss of use during the rental period. Loss of the ignition key is not covered by any insurance tier; replacement cost ranges from $30 to $200 USD depending on key type, billed to the Renter. - Interior condition and cleaning
All vehicles are strictly non-smoking, and no pets are permitted inside the vehicle. Evidence of smoking, vaping, or excessive pet hair at return results in a cleaning fee. - Reservation changes and cancellation
The Renter may request changes to a reservation up to 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time at no charge. Cancellations made 48 hours or more before pickup are refunded in full. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before pickup, or resulting from the Renter's failure to provide a valid license, passport, or deposit at pickup, forfeit the rental charge up to a maximum of 3 days' rental value. - Vehicle return and late returns
The vehicle must be returned to the designated Rieles 23 location on the exact date and time specified in this Agreement. A 59-minute grace period applies after the scheduled return time; returns beyond that window incur late fees up to the cost of a full additional day's rental rate, plus administrative fees. Returns to a location different from pickup carry a one-way fee that varies by distance, confirmed at the time of booking. If the vehicle is not returned by the end of the rental term and no circumstance beyond the Renter's reasonable control applies, Rieles 23 will report the vehicle to the appropriate government authorities and may pursue legal action. - Lost personal items
The Renter is responsible for collecting all personal belongings at the time of vehicle return. Rieles 23 is not responsible for storing or returning items left in the vehicle. - Sublease prohibition
The Renter may not sublease the vehicle to any third party. Doing so results in a $100 USD fine, and the Renter remains fully liable for any repair or replacement costs arising from an incident involving an unauthorized driver, since insurance does not extend to persons not identified on this Agreement. - Payment authorization
By signing this Agreement, the Renter authorizes Rieles 23 to charge the card on file for the rental fee, additional options, accessories, and any damage compensation owed, provided the Renter has been informed of the total amount in advance. - Vehicle seizure
If the vehicle is seized by Dominican government authorities as a result of the Renter's violation of Dominican Republic law, including laws governing drugs and controlled substances, the Renter must compensate Rieles 23 for the full value of the vehicle plus any resulting loss of business use, with a detailed accounting provided to the Renter. - Data privacy
Rieles 23 collects and processes the Renter's personal information solely to manage this reservation and rental, in accordance with Dominican Republic Law No. 172-13 on the Comprehensive Protection of Personal Data. The Renter may request modification or deletion of their personal information after the rental period ends by submitting a written request to Rieles 23. - Governing law and dispute resolution
This Agreement is governed by the laws of the Dominican Republic. Any dispute arising from this contract is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of the Dominican Republic. If Rieles 23 must pursue legal action against the Renter to enforce this Agreement, the Renter is responsible for the associated legal costs.
